A (semi-competitive but) full casual's guide/tips to Uma Musume EN/Global
By: Ricky | June 30, 2025

You want your Uma to be the very best, like no one ever was but you don't have good cards like most tutorials gave you? Here's a guide for you!
Disclaimer: Before I start, I have to say that the experience may vary and may take a few tries to make it work as RNG is still in-play. But believe me when I say this; you'll breakthrough that fence just like how Tanino Gimlet likes to break fences.
1. Early Preparation/Planning
You must have a general idea what kind of Uma you want at the end in mind. For example in this case, let's take Special Week and get her to be a Medium-distance Uma. As a trainee, she is a Turf, Medium-distance Uma, with Late Surger (or Betweener, if you're a JP player) as a default strategy/style. After that, you'll have to check their Race Objectives (will refer to as OBJ from now on).
From then on, you have to pair Legacy Umas that can help boost up on the traits you need. If you're like me who only have no SSR cards after 100 rolls, your mindset must be as "I'm here to survive AND win URA Finals," and thus you'll have to make do with whatever support cards you have.
You'd probably want to try balance the stats out, so my suggestion is to bring 3 Speed cards (preferably all SR), with one of them having skills for your Uma (or in this case, a speed card with few Late Surger skills), 1 Power card, 1 Guts card and 1 Stamina card. For Stamina, if you have an SSR Super Creek Speed card, use that. If not, borrow/loan it from other trainers.
Preferably, all cards must be at least 0LB SR cards as you'd want its Unique Perk when the card hits Lv. 25. If you don't have 'em, use the R cards with the skills that your Uma can learn. It's definitely better to have more skill option than to have nothing to learn (or skill that can learn but can't use due to different running styles/strategies)
For this case, the Spe-chan we're about to train will have legacies that will increase the guts and wisdom (with its legacies also increases the stamina and power).
2. Training Start!
Junior Year to Early Classic Year (Jan-approx. Mar)
Throughout the Junior year, the plan is to raise up bonds to orange/max with other Uma as you'll most likely do Junior Debut Races and the 2nd OBJ within this period. Try to focus mainly on your speed supports first, however if there's a chance to train more than one Uma in one training option, take the initiative and choose that option instead. Don't forget to at least break from G stats before Junior Debut.
Important: In case you DID NOT WIN the debut race, you must win one ASAP, as it is most likely you won't have enough fan count to qualify for the 2nd OBJ. and will most likely to fail the whole training.
After Junior Debut OBJ, while trying to focus on raising bonds on your speed supports, your training regime hierarchy choices should be as follows:
Regime w/ most number of Support Uma > Regime w/ Speed Support Uma > Regime w/ Support Uma w/ hints available > Regime w/ the stat you need*
*The last part has its own hierarchy, being; Speed > Power > Stamina > Guts > Wisdom
You may want to start taking skills that can help you in the race. You'd want to take skills with advantages in increase in velocity and/or increase in acceleration, as long it corresponds with your Uma's aptitude and style/strategy.
By the time you've reached or finished 2nd OBJ, you'd have at least 1 Speed Uma with max (or orange) bond, which will trigger rainbow/friendship training if it lands on Speed regime.
During New Year (Classic Early Jan), always go for the top option as that will increase a stat that the Uma is best at by +10. (E.g. Teio will increase her Speed, Spe-chan increase her Stamina, Tachyon increases her Wisdom, etc).
Classic Year - End of Classic Year
Here things get a little bit complicated. Once you're heading to 3rd OBJ, you'll have a slight amount of time for it. Train your Uma the best you can, following the regime hierarchy choices:
Regime w/ Rainbow/Friendship Uma = Regime w/ most Support Uma > Regime w/ Speed Support Uma (if you only have 1 orange/max bond Uma) > Regime w/ Support Uma w/ hints available > Regime w/ the stat you need* (refer to the hierarchy above)
Take note that your main point as of this point is to complete the OBJ. Getting 1st is a bonus, the important thing is that you're within the scope of the OBJ condition. So, its fine to lose few races.
While you do all that, keep in mind the next OBJ racetrack distance and aptitude. If available, take the Green Skills (Aptitude Skills), preferably the general ones (E.g. Standard Distance 〇, Longshot 〇, etc) instead of track-exclusive ones (E.g. Tokyo Racecourse 〇, Nakayama Racecoure 〇, etc).
The skill priority from before still stands during this timeline.
Beach Episode/Beach Training Episode:
- Occurs on Early July to Late August (4 turns)
- Training will be double the effect/stats (or at least way better than normal training)
- If there's a rainbow/friendship training during this period, TAKE THE INITIATIVE, even if its only one Uma in it.
- If there's two rainbow options, refer to the training hierarchy.
Senior Year
During New Year (Early Jan), you're given 3 options same as during the Classic Year. Unlike during Classic Year, where I'd suggest you to take the top option, this one is situational.
- If your energy when you're presented with this option is low, choose the top option, as it will recover the energy by +30.
- If your energy is close to or over 3/4 bar full, take the middle option, as it will increase all stats by +5.
- The bottom option increases your skill points, so if you're statisfied with your current stats, go for this.
The training regime is as follows:
Regime w/ Rainbow/Friendship Uma = Regime w/ most Support Uma > Regime w/ Support Uma w/ hints available > Regime w/ the stat you need* (refer to the hierarchy above)
For most Mid-distance Uma, as in this case, the final OBJ will be getting 1st in Arima Kinen (or what I call Arimakönen because Kimi Räikkönen). Said OBJ is a Long-distance race, so you best have the best Speed, Stam and Power at most.
Personally, your stats should be:
- Speed: B or B+
- Stamina: at least C+, preferably close to B
- Power: C+ (close to B) or B
- Guts: D or D+
- Wisdom: E+ or D
Check your energy before final OBJ, as you may need it during URA finals.
Once on the day of the final OBJ, if the prediction on Speed, Stam and Power is projecting as ◎○◎ (or at least ◎△◎ or derivatives to such), you should be doing it right, and pray that your Uma do not late start, rushed during race or blocked before the last spurt.
3. URA Finals a.k.a Finale
After the final OBJ, you'll have a day before the Qualifying. If you have enough energy for training, train the stats you think that may be lacking. If you don't have enough, you'll have to do a little gamble whether to take a rest to train for the Semi-Finals, or take the gamble of possible training failure or train for Wisdom to gain bit of energy.
*Note: Some Uma have considerable amount of gap (as of now its just Vodka) before the Qualifiers, so take use of that when training Vodka.
Continue the same for the day before Semi-Finals if you passed the Qualifiers. Train the stats that you feel may be lacking for the distance you're entering. You may lose here, so do not afraid to use the clock if you haven't used any before.
If you passed the Semi-Finals, here comes the Finale. If you check the Predictions, Tazuna may say that your Uma is underclassed, BUT IGNORE THAT. As long as your Speed is ◎ or ◯, your Stamina is ◎ or ◯ or △, and your Power is ◎ or ◯, all you gotta do is PRAY AND BELIEVE. USE THOSE ALARM CLOCKS IF FAIL.
If everything goes right, you're able to get your Uma to Umapyoi!
However, as the disclaimer at the top says, this may take a few tries. If you have done twice or thrice with the same setup but fail to get your Uma to win URA Finals, you may have to adjust a bit on your early prep/planning by changing parents or borrowing legacies from other trainers, or changing your support cards.
Conclusion
That's the beauty of this game, there are so many ways to train an Uma. While there may be meta in support cards, don't get surprised when your B ranked Uma gets overtaken by a C+ Uma. How it goes in JP, goes the same in EN; Ranks doesn't mean much in this game. It's how you set up your Uma and how you train her throughout her journey.
This is the summarized version. I could yap much more on the DETAILS, but I don't think anyone would have the patience to read a longer version.
